Held at
RADA, 62-64 Gower Street, London WC1E 6ED
This practical conference brought together RADA (Royal Academy of
Dramatic Art) and the BVA (British Voice Association) in a unique
collaboration. It enabled participants to deepen their understanding
of breath in performance under the guidance and influence of the leading
respiratory specialists and performance practitioners working in the
UK and US today.
The inter-disciplinary nature of the presentations and workshops
allowed educators, practitioners, and performers to reflect upon
a range of different perspectives, in order to enrich and further
develop their own practice with renewed insight and direction.
The conference also fostered timely discussion and debate about
the way in which the study of breath is situated in various practical
methodologies on both sides of the Atlantic, thus enabling a review
of current training priorities.
Speakers included David Carey, Catherine Fitzmaurice, Dr Yolanda Heman-Ackah,
Kristin Linklater and Patsy Rodenburg.
