VOICE OF INFLUENCE

This is a two-day course to encourage the participants to realise the full potential of the body and voice when communicating. In addition to examining how to use the voice to full effect, the course will explore body language and the structuring of presentations. The sessions will help develop techniques and strategies to increase confidence and become a more dynamic communicator - when speaking in public, making a pitch or giving a presentation. On the second day, participants will be asked to make a short presentation, when they will be given detailed feedback from the tutor.


Breath and Voice

  • Understand the importance of relaxation.
  • Practise structured breathing techniques.
  • Develop a full and resonant sound.
  • Improve pitch, range, strength and flexibility of the voice.


Body Language

  • Examine posture and be at ease in front of an audience.
  • Explore effective eye contact and how to engage others.
  • Manage nervousness and body language when communicating.


The Spoken Word

  • Examine the art of rhetoric, through analysis and reading of texts.
  • Develop clarity of articulation and expression.
  • Understand structure, rhythm and pace.
  • Inject passion and belief into presentations.


Art of Delivery

  • Work on openings and closings to presentations.
  • Engage with your content and your audience.
  • Presentation practice and feedback.



The sessions are highly practical and include theatre-based exercises. There are usually 8 participants on the course. The course is designed to help anyone become a more dynamic speaker and is also suitable for experienced speakers who wish to add dimension and range to their presentation and public speaking style.
