Andrew Cuthbert

Andrew trained as a teacher at Goldsmiths’ College (University of London) and as an actor at RADA. His theatre work includes engagements with many repertory companies throughout Britain, commercial tours, a year at the National Theatre, and a run in the West End. He has also appeared on television and in feature films as well as training films and tapes for commercial companies including 3i’s, Bausch and Lomb and VW/Audi. Recently he was in ‘Tea and Sympathy’ and ‘Young Woodley’ at the Finborough Theatre. Since then he played Herod in ‘Salome’ at RADA as part of the Director’s course. He is about to return to the RADA bar as half of The Bloomsbury Bards, performing his own poetry.

He trained as a voice teacher at the Central School of Speech and Drama, where he gained a Postgraduate Diploma in Voice Studies. For fifteen years he has taught acting students at RADA, on both the core course and the short courses. He has taught in Japan at the Subaru theatre company and annually teaches a course at Tokyo’s Joko Acting School. Other drama schools he has taught at include Mountview, Arts Educational, Drama Studio London, Italia Conti, London Academy of Performing Arts, Arts Institute at Bournemouth and the University of Florida.

He has delivered presentation workshops for practising teachers and for trainee teachers at Cardiff Institute of Higher Education. Privately he has worked with barristers, university lecturers, teachers, actors and law students.

For REL, Andrew has delivered workshops on voice and presentation skills for councillors from Kent County Council and for the IDeA’s Leadership Academy in Newcastle and Bath. He devised and presents workshops on Stage Fright for those with a fear of public speaking. He also runs one-to-one sessions on Accent Reduction.
