Second Year Sonnets
Sebastian Harcombe, Director of the BA Acting Course, takes us through the 2nd Year (3yr BA Acting Course) Sonnets project here:
"The sonnet / video diary project took place with myself and the current 2nd year BA acting students in autumn term 2009 - to commemorate the 400th anniversary of the publication of Shakespeare's sonnets.
It involved the students planning and shooting several short video films themselves, with simple hand-held cameras, inspired by the language, themes, ideas, images and atmosphere of a number of different sonnets.
The sonnets are very enigmatic - so I wanted the students to explore them with fresh, contemporary eyes, specifically looking for personal connections and resonances between themselves and the verse, not merely to reflect or illustrate their perceived narratives."
